Here we have the basic cab assembly, sides and end, in location. Gluing the front to the sides is tricky. I glued the angle strips to the front piece first. Note that they do not come all the way to the bottom of it. If you do that they don't come up high enough. How do I know? Out came the debonder! The front edges of the moulding on the side pieces are designed to fit up tight against the angle strips. This is clearly shown on the next image. However, the thickness of the front piece pushes the cab side front back by that amount and the moulding does not come to the strip. The cab front edge then needs to be trimmed back a bit. If you attach the angle strips to the cab sides first you are going to have to trim the width of the front piece for the cab to fit down snug. A look at this page should clarify things.
The rivet detail was added using styrene rod in drilled holes. These were another detail my "image analysis" said was important. The engine and radiator are just sitting there. |
