The first layouts that I can remember building were made on the nursery floor using Hornby tinplate track! I think we had a few points and could make an oval and some sidings. There were a couple of clockwork locos and some rolling stock. There were a few Hornby tinplate buildings and I am sure a signal or two. Doubtless some Hornby figures were present and I know we had some Triang clockwork road vehicles. I can remember we used cedar shrub branches for trees. Isn't it funny how these memories start coming back when you start writing.
